Homemade Pizza

Ingredients

Pizza base:                                                                          

  • 1 cup plain flour                                                               
  • ½ tsp salt                                                                           
  • 1 tsp baking powder                                                         
  • 1 tsp oil                                                                  
  • ½ cup milk or water.
Topping ideas:                                                      
  • Tomato paste                                                               
  • Tomatoes
  • Onions
  • Garlic
  • Mushrooms                                                                                                     
  • Pumpkin/kumara pieces (Bake in an oven until golden and then cool)
  • Spinach/silverbeet
  • Cheese                       
  • Fresh herbs                                                                                                         
  • Onion                                                                                                       
  • Optional leftover cooked meat.

Method

Mix flour, salt, and baking powder together in a bowl.
Mix the oil and milk (or water) together in a cup and pour into the flour mixture.
Mix together and form a ball. Place on a lightly floured chopping board or bench. If too wet, add more flour. If too dry, add more water/milk.
Flatten with palms of hands or a rolling pin to make a flat pizza shape (1cm thick). Lightly flour a baking tray. Form the dough into a large flat circle/rectangle on the baking tray.
Cover with your favourite toppings and bake in oven at 200°C for 15–20 mins or until base is crispy and toppings are golden.
